The quarterly industry report from TransUnion shows Albertans are leading the country when it comes to debt load and debt delinquency. The leading city is Calgary, while Albertan’s are carrying an average debt load that leads the country with over $27, 583. That’s $6000 higher than the national average. The increase was expected given the decline in the oil sector coupled with the drastic fires in Fort McMurray.
The average consumer non-mortgage debt levels are highest in lines of credit. The year-over-year percentage change, however, four lines of credit was unchanged. However, instalment loan averages have increased.
